Water Street Advisors is a boutique Merger and Acquistion advisory firm that helps owners of businesses sell their companies or purchase companies to expand. As a Vice President of Water Street Advisors, John B. Weber brings over 34 years of financial transaction experience to help companies of all sizes in many industries obtain debt and acquisition financing. As a commercial banker for several large regional, and multi-national banks, John’s knowledge of credit analysis, cash flow lending, bond financing, and non-conventional forms of financing has helped hundreds of clients obtain the capital funding they needed to grow and prosper. John actively assisted clients on both sides of acquisition transactions with a passion for creating deals that meet the goals of all parties involved - from discussion phases through negotiation, documentation and closing. John has experience in a wide array of industries, including: manufacturing, wholesale, retail, franchising, distribution, logistics, transportation, healthcare, service, not-for-profit, and international financing. At Water Street Advisors, John’s role includes marketing privately held, lower middle market sized companies for sale, performing buy-side searches, and arranging debt placements.
Most recently, John was the Executive Director for a public/private partnership assisting minority owned businesses obtain capital for growth. In this capacity, and in a very short timeframe, John and his team helped over 100 companies find and/or start the process to find the financing that they needed. Unfortunately, Government funding was cut for the program after the first year of operation, however, John continues to work with key contributors from that organization providing assistance and funding to minority owned businesses.
John has previously worked for regional and multi-national banks, including National City Bank, PNC, and HSBC, as well as local institutions such as Associated Bank and Talmer Bank and Trust. He is and has been active in several finance industry associations, and most recently was an At Large Director for the Chicago Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG). John recently joined the Exit Planning Exchange (XPX) Chicago Chapter and serves as Co-Chair of the Sponsorship Committee and as a Vice President and Board member. John is also actively involved in the Knights of Columbus, as a Past Grand Knight for KofC Council 15037, of Holy Spirit Catholic Community in Naperville. John was a founding board member of Wessex 504 Corporation, a new SBA packager in Chicago, and has been involved in several not-for-profit leadership roles, including President of the Children’s Hospital Development Board when he lived in Columbus, Ohio, Treasurer of the Prevent Child Abuse Chicago Board which sponsored an annual fundraising Blue Ribbon Ball, and most recently has been involved in the F.E.J.A. task force, and will take an active role in executing the plan which aims to provide jobs in the green energy sector for returning citizens.
John, who was president of his Senior High School Class, graduated from Indiana University Kelley School of Business at Bloomington, Indiana, and participates in the Kelley Alumni Business Advisor role to assist Kelley students prepare for and navigate professional life after graduation. John received his MBA from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. John lives in Naperville, Illinois with his wife Karen and has a daughter, Paige, who graduated with an undergraduate degree from University of Iowa and now lives and works in downtown Chicago, Illinois.
