Stephanie is the Managing Partner and Chief Operating Officer of SLS Capital Advisors and The Gaffin Group. Stephanie is a proven executive with proven results driving change in organizations by creating common vision and a pragmatic plan to get there. Throughout her career, Stephanie has been a sought after speaker and facilitator given her ability to help disparate groups of individuals come together in ways that not only result in more effective working structures, but create common ground for solving complex problems in dynamic environments. Her background in consulting / professional services as well as operating roles, allows her to balance strategic imperatives with a practical approach in driving execution.
Healthcare has been the focus of Stephanie’s career for more than 20 years. She is passionate about the whole healthcare experience, driving innovations to help people – not just patients – live their healthiest and best lives, and fueled by the belief that health is about vitality, not just the absence of disease. She spent the last five years at Evolent Health, seeing firsthand the potential of value based care to improve both outcomes and cost. There, she had the opportunity to help build the infrastructure of the company as it grew to over $400 million in revenue and more than 2500 employees in just over 5 years.
Prior to joining Evolent, Stephanie spent nine years at the Advisory Board Company where she held a variety of leadership roles focused on creating new organizational capabilities in consulting, clinically integrated networks, and leadership development. During her tenure, she worked with over 75 hospitals across the country, ranging from large academic medical centers to mid-size and rural facilities, to drive improvements on operational and strategic issues.
The early part of Stephanie’s career was spent working directly in the provider environment, providing a strong foundation in understanding the dynamics of the healthcare industry. At Northwestern Memorial Hospital she served in both business development and operating roles. In each position she held, she sought opportunities to drive change, from launching the redesign of the Admitting and Registration process at a replacement facility to joint ventures and physician practice acquisitions. Stephanie began her career as an Administrative Fellow at Barnes (now Barnes-Jewish) Hospital in the early days of the BJC Health System.
Stephanie received her bachelor’s degree in Biology and Economics from Washington University in St. Louis. She holds a Master of Healthcare Administration and Master of Business Administration from the University of Minnesota. Stephanie lives in suburban Chicago with her husband and two children. She enjoys skiing, sailing, SCUBA, photography, and traveling.
